EVENTS
Have you been signing your emails, “Sincerely, Lonely in Poughkeepsie”? First of all, stop that. Secondly, if you want to meet a fresh face, there’s a Lock and Key mixer around the corner. And buck up — Valentine’s Day isn’t that bad when you’re single, trust me.

“Sincerely, Lonely in Poughkeepsie”?

What’s a Lock and Key mixer?

I’m glad you asked. Lovely ladies wear padlocks and manly men, key in hand, try to find the one lock that’s made just for them. Quite literally, a conversation icebreaker is attached to every girl. Find your match, chat for a bit and then trade in the lock and key set for a new one. No pressure, though — if you’re simpatico with a lucky guy or girl, talk as long as you’d like.

Prizes on top of prizes

What’s better than meeting Mr. or Mrs. Right two weeks before Valentine’s Day? Meeting “The One” and then winning cash. Or, not meeting anybody special, but still winning cash. Every time you find your counterpart, you’ll get a raffle ticket. At the end of the event, you may just score a prize, so long as you’re not making out on the patio with your new fling.

February’s mixer

For all you singles, the next mixer is Feb. 1, at Mahoney’s Irish Pub and Steakhouse (35 Main St., Poughkeepsie). The suggested age range is 21 to 45, but you can still attend if you’re a bit older. Check in at 7:30 p.m. and then drop all those pickup lines you’ve been practicing from 8-10 p.m. Drinks are $1 off for happy hour, plus there’ll be free appetizers until 9 p.m. and also a discounted menu. Raffles of the night include $50 cash, off-Broadway show tickets, restaurant gift certificates and admission to Pre-Dating Speed Dating events.

Early registration with a promo code (find them on Facebook) is $22; RSVP and pay $27 at the door; or don’t RSVP and pay $32 at the door.

Want to stay late? You won’t have to pay a cover and the Bar Spies perform live after the mixer. Call Safe Ride if you have one too many.

For more information about the event, visit lockandkeyevents.com/HUD or call Debby DiGregorio at either 845-219-1430 or 877-565-3836. Contact Mahoney’s at 845-471-7026 or visit mahoneysirishpub.com
